Emmitt Smith recently rubbed people the wrong way when he said that Dak Prescott should take less money to remain with the Cowboys. Following Smith's controversial comments, Darren Woodson chimed in on Prescott's contract situation.

“It’s a slap in the face for people to say he should take less,” Woodson said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “That is a slap in that man’s face. They are not out here. I am watching every day. My office oversees the practice field, and there ain’t nobody on that team that works harder than Dak Prescott. He is putting the work in. The man deserves it. That is commitment.”

Prescott was once a fourth-round pick for the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft. Since becoming the starting quarterback as a rookie, he's improved each and every season that he's been in the NFL. This season alone, Prescott had one of the best seasons among NFL quarterbacks as he threw for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Despite his efforts, Prescott remains unsigned and is without a contract as free agency looms. At this point in contract talks, it's safe to say that Prescott won't take a discount in negotiations.

Prior to the 2019 season, Prescott was hoping to receive a long-term extension from the Cowboys. Instead, the team made Ezekiel Elliott the highest-paid running back in the NFL. As a result, the Cowboys quarterback bet on himself and continued to prove that he's worth paying.

On Monday, the Cowboys revealed that neither side has spoken about a contract since September. Whenever those talks resume, Dallas shouldn't expect Prescott to accept anything less than the market dictates.
