Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence have announced that they'll be donating to those who are affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
In a recent post on Instagram, Elliot announced he'll be releasing merchandise with CentreTX this weekend and 100% of the profits will aid the North Texas Food Bank. Here's what he said on his Instagram:
Super excited to be teaming up with the North Texas Food Bank to help thousands of people during this difficult time. We will be releasing all new merch this weekend and donating 100% of the proceeds to NTFB with CentreTX doing a match on whatever we raise. The vision of North Texas Food Bank is a hunger-free, healthy Texas, we hope to raise hundreds of thousands to support those in need!
On Wednesday, Lawrence announced on his Twitter that he and his family will be doing a DYI project to thank all of the essential workers, first responders, and health care workers.
It's nice to see professional athletes such as those on the Cowboys using their celebrity spotlight to help out those who are affected by the coronavirus. According to the Texas Tribune, there have been 10,230 confirmed cases in Texas as of Thursday evening. In addition, there have been 199 confirmed deaths due to the coronavirus.
Although the 2020 NFL Draft will be held on time, the coronavirus might impact other events such as OTAs and other workouts for the Cowboys and every other team. Since regular-season games don't start until September, the league hasn't made a decision to postpone them. However, there's a possibility the games might be played without fans in attendance.
