Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been the hottest topic of training camp thus far, as the two-time Pro Bowler is holding out as he seeks a new contract.

And to get away for a little bit, Elliott has headed to Cabo, which is where he worked out during his six-game suspension in 2017.

Obviously, Elliott's decision to skip the country has been a bit controversial, but Cowboys tight end Jason Witten doesn't see a problem with it as long as Elliott is training:

“I know he’s going to be training, he’s going to be ready to play,” Witten said, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I don’t know if we have a guy on this football team that loves football and enjoys being one of the guys in the locker room and in these meetings [more than Zeke]. And during training camp he’s a little bit of a jokester.”

Witten also does not have any doubt that Elliott will be ready when the time comes:

“He’s going to work hard and he’s going to be prepared and I know he’s preparing himself to carry the workload like he has his entire career,” said Witten, “I don’t see that being an issue of where he’s doing his training at.”

Elliott is scheduled to make $3.9 million this year and $9.1 million in 2020, but he is concerned about his future, and that is completely understandable, especially given the fact that he has led the NFL in carries in two of his three seasons.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he led the league with 1,434 rushing yards, adding six touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
