It has once again been a difficult battle for Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Sean Lee, as a nagging hamstring injury has once again flared up this season to largely keep him off the field. Owner Jerry Jones isn't too concerned this time around, though.

Lee is working his way back from the injury that has forced him to miss the last two games as well as Thursday's Thanksgiving contest against the Washington Redskins. With that in mind, Jones stated during an interview with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that the former Pro Bowler will be in a rotation with the other two young linebackers in rookie Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

“That’s a management dream right there,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan when asked about playing time for his three top linebackers. “You rotate those guys. You get the very best out of their strengths, their endurance. Sean Lee without a doubt can be the key guy on the team, much less on the defense. And, so, you don’t want too many plays with him not in there. But the way Vander Esch is playing and what we have in Smith out there, we just will play them all. There’s plenty of snaps to go around. There’s 60 plays on defense. You certainly can get those guys in for 20 or 30 plays apiece.”

In five games played this season, Lee has 27 total tackles, a fumble recovery, a half sack, and a pass deflection. He is expected to miss somewhere between four-to-six weeks due to the injury, so he is currently at the midway point of the recovery timeline that will push him to possibly return for the last few games of the campaign.

When healthy, Lee has proven to be the anchor of the Cowboys’ defense, recording more than 100 tackles in each of the last three seasons. He's had difficulty staying healthy for a lengthy period of time at any point in his career, making it tough for Lee to have a sustained impact on the Cowboys.

With Lee still on the mend, both Smith and Vander Esch are in the position to hold down the fort in his absence through this decisive stretch of the season.
