Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin is cancer-free.

USA TODAY Dallas Cowboys reporter Jori Epstein broke the news on Twitter on March 31.

For his part, Irvin's former Cowboys teammate, Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith, couldn't contain his excitement on social media after hearing the news.

Irvin himself confirmed he was cancer-free on his Instagram account on Sunday. He wrote:

Thank  you God for continuing to answer Prayers and Thank you ALL for Praying. I spoke with Dr St John at UCLA Medical and she has informed me that all test have come back 100!% clean. NO CANCER!!!!!! It is impossible to express my family and my appreciation for the overwhelming out pour of love, support and prayers. I was on my threshing floor dealing with the stronghold of fear. You all covered and encourage me. To God be the Glory.

Irvin posted a picture of himself lying on a hospital bed on his Instagram account on Wednesday. He mentioned he underwent testing for throat cancer for two days. He also added he was “terrified” because his father passed away at the age of 51 because of that health issue.

Irvin said he noticed something was amiss with his throat after he lost his voice in the wake of the Cowboys' 13-10 win over the New Orleans Saints on November 29, 2018. He also said this went on for two months.

The outspoken Cowboys wide receiver earned many accolades during his 12-year NFL career. He was a three-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Pro Bowler, and a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team and the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, among other things. He also finished with 11,904 receiving yards and 65 touchdowns on 750 career receptions.

These are impressive numbers, to say the least. However, it's a safe bet he considers his recent clean bill of health one of the best achievements of his life.
