Jon Jones has not fought in the UFC for about two years. His last fight was back in 2020 against Dominick Reyes and he has had a very complicated future since then. Dana White recently spoke about him in an interview.

Dana White and the UFC were waiting for Jon Jones' recent arrest to be taken care of before figuring out his future. Jones was arrested back in 2021 for a domestic violence issue involving his now ex-fiance.

Along with the arrest, Jon Jones has been training for a move to heavyweight. Moving up to heavyweight is something that has been talked about for almost ten years. The former UFC champion claims he has been bulking up and getting his body ready.

UFC president Dana White recently spoke to ESPN and gave an update on Jon Jones. Apparently, the move to heavyweight is real and he could be fighting for a title depending on what Francis Ngannou is doing.

“I haven’t thought about it at all, but yeah, it sounds like something we would do,” White said (h/t MMA Junkie). “Not until we know what Francis is gonna do or what’s gonna happen, but if that’s the case, if he ends up sitting out for a year, Jon [Jones] could come right in and fight for a title.”

Jon Jones appears to be a serious contender for the UFC heavyweight title and his return appears likely for this year. There are many questions regarding his fighting abilities and it will be interesting to see how he looks when he comes back.
