The Arizona Cardinals now have their new head coach in Steve Wilks. He has wasted little time in finding a new defensive coordinator in Al Holcomb, who is expected to replace James Bettcher.

Wilks’ next task is to find an offensive coordinator, and he has started the search by getting former Seattle Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell in for an interview.

The Seahawks recently fired Bevell a couple of weeks ago as part of a major coaching staff clearout in Seattle. He spent seven generally successful seasons in Seattle. Under his guidance, the Seahawks had some of their best offensive seasons in franchise history. The Seahawks went to two Super Bowls in Bevell’s tenure as OC and came one interception away from back-to-back titles.

Aside from the fact that he has gone up against Arizona every year in the NFC West, Bevell should be very familiar to the Cardinals. The Cards interviewed Bevell, who is from Scottsdale, Arizona, for their vacant head coaching spot in 2012, but the job ultimately went to Bruce Arians.

The Seahawks offense boasted a top-five rushing offense in four of the seven seasons under Bevell. If hired in Arizona, Bevell will get to work with one of the best running backs in the league in David Johnson.

However, the Cardinals do have issues in the passing game. Quarterback Carson Palmer retired after the season and star receiver Larry Fitzgerald could possibly follow suit. Bevell has shown he can run a canny passing attack, though. Russell Wilson just led the league in touchdown passes this season under Bevell.
