The New Jersey Devils are not having a great season, but at least PK Subban and company will be looking fine once they finally don their new threads that legendary goalie Martin Brodeur helped produce. Following the release of the designs, Brodeur admitted that he wished he had gotten the chance to play in this alternate jersey, per Greg Wyshynski of ESPN.

“I wish we could have played in this,” said Brodeur, while holding a black Devils sweater with his name and No. 30 on the back. “It’s just a cool thing.”

This is the first time that the Devils are going to be wearing a jersey outside of their usual home-and-away threads, which can come across as surprising to some, considering that almost every team in the league has an alternate jersey. With the Devils finally getting theirs, only the Detroit Red Wings and the Seattle Kraken are left without a third jersey in the NHL.

Nevertheless, Brodeur’s fingerprint is all over the jersey, as he was part of the team behind its production.

Adding to his résumé as a Hall of Fame goalie and the team’s executive vice president/advisor of hockey operations, Brodeur is now a fashion designer. He played an active role in co-creating the team’s third jersey, from the concept phases through the final design.

Brodeur played all but one of his 22 NHL seasons with the Devils before retiring in 2015.
