During the Miami Dolphins' Week 10 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Brian Flores decided to sit out their starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa was nursing a fractured finger, and so the organization decided to preserve him and start his backup Jacoby Brissett.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events, Brissett also went down with an apparent knee injury. With no other option, Flores and the Dolphins decided to get Tua in the game, as Brissett was destined to miss the game… or so we thought. In the FOX broadcast, the announcers noted that the backup QB was cleared to play in the game. However, Flores elected to put in his young starting QB instead. (via Ari Meirov)

“Per the FOX broadcast, Jacoby Brissett was cleared to return but Brian Flores stopped him from coming in. He instructed Tua Tagovailoa, who is dealing with a fractured finger, to come in.”

That's… confusing, to say the least. The most logical option here would be to put in your third-string quarterback (in this case, Jake Dolegala), since you want to make sure that your two main QBs are nursing injuries. Instead, the Dolphins went the opposite route, and elected to sub in one injured player for another injured player.

If the goal was to rest Tagovailoa, shouldn't Flores and the Dolphins not force Tua to play? Maybe Brissett's injury wasn't that serious: he was cleared to play in the game after all. This is all just a confusing mess for the Dolphins, who have been struggling this entire season.
