What's one thing that Tua Tagovailoa, Kyler Murray, and Warren Moon all have in common? Well, yes, they're all quarterbacks, but in addition to that they also all wear the number one.

It hasn't been all that common seeing a signal-caller sport the number. There have actually only been 10 quarterbacks #1s in NFL history – and we have three of them right now in Tagovailoa, Murray, and New England Patriots QB Cam Newton.

Warren Moon started the trend about thirty some-odd years ago and Tua and Kyler have adopted the trend to bring the number one back to the quarterback position.

When asked about why he wore number one, Moon answered:

“Maybe it was the feeling that it was an “I” instead of a “we” number, or maybe early generations just didn't think of it as a cool QB number.”

“Because I was the first one to wear it as a quarterback, there was something special about it. Some people would say it's arrogant that you want to wear that number. But it had meaning to me about where I wanted to be,” Moon said

Kyler Murray didn't really have much meaning behind his decision to rock numero uno:

“Pretty much my whole life I've worn No. 1. That's just who I am, part of me,” Murray said. “I'm not really with trends. Certain people look good in it. Some people look better than others in it.”

When Tua was asked about his number choice, his answer differed from both Moon and Murray:

“I sat down and talked to my dad. His biggest thing to pick No. 1 was for the ‘Audience of One,'” Tua said. “That's more so on the faith side of things. That's why I chose it.”

Whether it's faith based, or because it's a cool QB number, the number one has produced some excellent quarterbacks.

Hopefully we can see Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray live up to the number one's standards and become Hall-of-Famers like the first QB #1, Warren Moon.
