Week 10 of the NFL got off to a chaotic start, as the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens battled in a messy, confusing game. The highlight (or lowlight, depending on your perspective) came in the fourth quarter, when Dolphins offensive lineman Robert Hunt caught a pass from Tua Tagovailoa. The big guy put the moves on the Ravens and went all the way to the end-zone… but his score was waived off since he wasn't an β€œeligible receiver.” (via Sam Monson)

It's a chaotic play that perfectly summed up the hilarity of this match, and clearly, their peers in the league think it was funny too. Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes reacted just like the rest of us on that Dolphins play, saying:

β€œBro why did he make a play like that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β€

On the other hand, Browns star wide receiver and former Dolphins player Jarvis Landry expressed his shock at Hunt's sudden desire to be a receiver.

β€œAin’t gon lie the Big Guy made me jump out my seat !!! What A Play πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ #GiveHim6”

Unfortunately for Hunt, his catch and subsequent moves were deemed illegal due to the β€œeligible receiver” rule. Offensive players have to register themselves as eligible for them to be able to catch the ball whenever they get in the game. The Dolphins OL either forgot to do this before entering, or just went crazy and did it knowing it wouldn't count. Either scenario makes for great content, so we're not complaining.

All's well that ends well, anyway. The Dolphins, despite playing with TWO injured quarterbacks, managed to eke out a 22 – 10 win over Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. They did it off the back of their defense, completely shutting down Jackson.

As for Hunt, well… hopefully the next time the Dolphins play, he remembers to register himself before making a big play like this.
