The Miami Dolphins' performance largely fluctuated throughout the 2017 NFL season. As a result, they could be looking to bring in some more stability on the offensive side of the ball.

One of the biggest question marks going into next season will be the running back situation. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins could be looking to sign Denver Broncos running back CJ Anderson this offseason:

To create cap space, the Broncos reportedly might cut running back C.J. Anderson (per ESPN), and as has been speculated in social media, it would be not remotely surprising if the Dolphins pursue him — two years after Denver matched Miami’s offer sheet for him.

The Dolphins run game was virtually non-existent at the beginning of last season. That said, it was not long before running back Jay Ajayi was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles midway through the year.

Following his departure, the Dolphins relied on their backfield duo of Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams. However, it was only a matter of time before Drake assumed full workhorse duties down the final stretch of the season.

Now it seems Miami could be looking for a more stable option in Anderson. The fifth-year man out of Cal enjoyed quite the resurgence in 2017 after a rough stretch the past few seasons.

Anderson rushed for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career while flexing his muscle in the passing game as well with 224 yards receiving. However, Anderson's skill set is that of a true three-down back thanks to his prowess when it comes to blitz protection.

Anderson could become a casualty of the Broncos' cap situation as they look to sign Kirk Cousins to a big contract in free agency. If the Broncos do end up letting Anderson go, Devontae Booker will likely step up as the team's lead back next season.
