It's been a wild offseason for the NFL and it's just getting started. After an interesting coaching carousel across the league, rumors are swirling around the Miami Dolphins' original plan. It involved Tom Brady and Sean Payton, but everything went awry when Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the NFL and several teams.

According to Pro Football Talk, “the Dolphins planned to pursue Sean Payton to be the coach and Tom Brady to be the starting quarterback. The plan was scrapped after Brian Flores filed his lawsuit against the NFL generally and the Dolphins, (New York) Giants, and (Denver) Broncos specifically.” Had this franchise been able to pull it off, Miami would have made two drastic moves in one offseason.

Instead, the Dolphins ended up going a different path. Sean Payton and Tom Brady both have announced they're walking away from the game. Additionally, Miami replaced Brian Flores with Mike McDaniel who is an exciting young coach as well. It'll be interesting to see how this team plays next season, as the roster is close to becoming a yearly playoff contender.

It's unclear whether or not Sean Payton and Tom Brady are even aware of the plan. However, when Flores filed his lawsuit, rumors came out that the Dolphins tried to have Brian Flores meet Tom Brady on a yacht. So, some of it is believable, but it would have been insane to see Brady pair up with Sean Payton. Instead, Mike McDaniel is the head coach while Brady and Payton enjoy the retired life… For now.
