Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey has taken a lot of heat for a missed field goal that eliminated the Chicago Bears from the playoffs and Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott doesn't think he should be taking all the heat. Elliott took to Twitter on Monday morning,  tweeting the interview of Parkey from the locker room with the caption:

This is a stand up guy that a lot of young players can look up to. This is how you handle adversity like a pro. Cody is a heck of a kicker and will be for a long time. No reason to be taking the heat he is especially when that ball was tipped. #ClassAct

Initially, it just looked like a miss that hit the upright crossbar, but after close examination, it turned out that Trevyon Hester was actually able to get his finger on it, and that caused the ball to change its trajectory. After the game, Parkey took all the blame for the miss and said he felt bad for letting his team down.

“You can't make this up,” Parkey said via ESPN. “I feel terrible. I let the team down. That's on me. I have to own it. I have to be a man. Unfortunately, that's the way it went today.”

Parkey missed a total of 11 field goals and extra points this season, so the next question is will the Bears bring him back next year or move on to a new kicker. Whatever the Bears decide to do, hopefully, the death threats stop. After all, this is just a game.
