In a rematch of the Euro 2020 finals, it's England vs Italy on Saturday in UEFA Nations League action at the Molineux. This is a very important clash for both sides but more so for the Three Lions, who are off to a dismal start, tying Germany and losing to Hungary. As for the Azzurri, they've beaten the Hungarians and played to a 1-1 draw with the Germans. As of right now, England sits in fourth spot in this Nations League A Group, while the Italians are in top spot.

These current games are crucial for Gareth Southgate's side as a tune-up for the World Cup in Qatar later this year and so far, they're not exactly living up to expectations despite the top talent within their squad. Italy will surely be taking this competition much more seriously however after missing out on Qatar in shocking fashion. The Euro 2020 winners essentially have nothing else to play for at the moment except for the Nations League and heading into matchday three, they still have a realistic chance of progressing to the Finals.

England vs Italy preview & predictions

The Italians will have fond memories of their last meeting with England, winning the Euro 2020 Final in emphatic fashion on penalties. Although the Three Lions did collapse in spot-kicks, there's no question Italy was the best team in the tournament. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill for them since lifting the prestigious trophy.

Italy finished as runners-up to Switzerland in Group B of their World Cup Qualifying campaign, being forced to try and progress through the play-off. That's when the Italians choked, losing to North Macedonia and missing their second World Cup in a row. The emotions have changed drastically in Italy since last summer and the supporters don't exactly have a lot to be happy about right now. However, a victory against England would put them in a solid position to come out of this pod in the Nations League.

The Three Lions meanwhile were on an impressive run of 10 games unbeaten since that crushing defeat at Wembley last July, but it ended in Budapest when Hungary beat them thanks to a Dominik Szbozoslai penalty. Southgate was slammed heavily by the English media following the defeat, especially because England had such few opportunities to score. On Tuesday, it was another toothless performance from England, settling for a point against Germany. They were frankly outplayed and if it wasn't for a late second-half equalizer from Tottenham star Harry Kane, who scored from the spot, it would've been another loss. For a team with so much attacking talent, they've looked abysmal through the first two matchdays of the Nations League.

Considering neither side is playing top football at the moment, a draw is the most likely outcome.
