The Evolution Championship Series 2021, or more commonly called Evo 2021, is one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the world. As the longest-running large-scale fighting tournament series, Evo is the yearly highlight of its esports scene. It is well known for being one of the few high-prestige esports tournaments to be open to anyone. In Evo, even unknown newcomers can see themselves face off against seasoned veterans to prove their mettle.

However, this year will be quite different due to the pandemic – all games will be done online and with two separate events. This year's games and schedule is as follows:

  • Tekken 7: August 6-7
  • Street Fighter V: August 7-8
  • SkullGirls 2nd Encore: August 7-8
  • Guilty Gear Strive: August 14-15
  • Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate: August 13-14

The online streaming schedule can be found on the official Evo 2021 website. Matches themselves can be viewed on the official Evo Twitch account. Additionally, it should be noted that the Mortal Kombat 11 tournament is limited to the NA, LATAM, and Europe regions only.

Regional champions from this leg of the tournament will then move on to compete in the Evo 2021 Showcase. This event, which begins on November 27, will bring together the top 40 fighters across the tournament. It also features a $125,000 prize pool.

Notably, Tekken 7 and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore will both be played on PC. Guilty Gear Strive and Mortal Kombat 11 will be played on either PS4 or PS5. Street Fighter 5 is available for competition on all three aforementioned platforms.

Evo 2021 has also limited Dragon Ball FighterZ as a side-event. Meanwhile, old staple Super Smash Bros. will not be at Evo this year. Perhaps due to Sony now owning the tournament circuit.
