The free agent market will have at least one elite rusher, according to Junior Galette, who thinks he still has what it takes to be a threat on defense.

According to an interview with 106.7 The Fan, Galette believes he will hit FA as Washington has yet to make a phone call to him about his future. Also in the interview, he went on to show he is still confident about his playing style and is ready to bring his elite play to another team.

“I consider myself elite,” Galette said. “You look at the numbers, it is what it is. I don’t care what you tell me. I had back-to-back [double-digit sack years] in New Orleans. I think only four players were during that span and I was on pace, had a promising career. I still do, I feel like, but pass rush is so relative. There are so many things and other variables that play into pass rush, so if you just look at my [stats] and it says that I’m top-three in the win percentage and the sacks don’t match, okay, so you look at the tape and you’re like, ‘Wait, how come the sacks don’t match?’ Well, maybe this guy deserves more playing time. If you give me more playing time, that’s how it works. In ’13, I had I think 800 snaps in New Orleans, in ’14 I think I had 750. In both those years, [I had] double-digit sacks. It just is what it is.”

Galette was with the Washington Redskins the past year, but his shining moments came with the Saints when he totaled 22.0 sacks over two years.

Galette also has had some off-field troubles which led his way to become a Redskin. A torn Achilles tendon hurt his first two years in Washington, but he was able to play all 16 games as a Redskin, tallying 3.0 sacks in a low playing time role with the team.

According to Mike Cahill of Pro Football Focus, “Before missing both the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to Achilles injuries, Galette produced the ninth-most pressures across the 2013 and 2014 seasons among edge defenders with 126. His 22 sacks in that time were tied for seventh-most, as well.”

In conclusion, Galette is looking for some playing time and proves once given it, he can perform on the field with at least double-digit sacks. Galette is ready to prove why he's still the best, regardless of where he lands.
