David Johnson was part of the biggest blockbuster move of the entire 2020 NFL offseason. After a couple of years of uncertainty with the Arizona Cardinals, Johnson was included in the trade that sent DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals. The Houston Texans have been looking for an upgrade at the running back position, and Johnson could very well end up being that guy.

Granted, this move comes with a ton of risk for the Texans. Hopkins is one of the NFL's elite playmakers and his connection with star quarterback Deshaun Watson will be missed. However, the Texans were able to go out and bring in both Randall Cobb and Brandin Cooks after moving Hopkins, which helps them move forward without the superstar wideout.

While the trade was considered very one-sided and Hopkins received all of the media attention, Johnson will have something to say about that.

During the 2019 season with the Cardinals, Johnson was unseated from his starting job by Kenyan Drake. He ended up carrying the football just 94 times for 345 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson did catch 36 passes for 370 yards and four scores on the year as well.

Heading into the 2020 NFL season with his new team, Johnson is looking to get back on track. In fact, he strongly believes that he can get back to being a running back who picks up 1,000 yards on the ground and 1,000 through the air.

“They're getting a guy who's going to always work hard. They never have to worry about me off the field. … They're going to get a guy who's dedicated to the team and really dedicated to proving everyone wrong. I'm still striving to get that 1,000 yards rushing and receiving.”

Can Johnson become that kind of a back for the Texans? Only time will tell, but for Fantasy Football players, he is a major sleeper.

Watson is one of the NFL's top rising stars at the quarterback position. But, in order for him to take that next leap, the Texans needed to bring in a threat on the ground. Johnson is going to be the clear-cut starter with Duke Johnson backing him up.

It has been a long time since Johnson was giving a real chance at being a workhorse. Just a few short years ago, Johnson was considered an elite running back and one of the most feared offensive playmakers in the game. He has had some injury issues, but his body has been fairly well rested over the last few years and he's ready to come out and prove himself.

With the extra motivation, Johnson is going to have a breakout season. Fantasy Football players should absolutely be targeting him as an RB2 or FLEX pickup. His ability as a receiver puts him in a very intriguing position with the Texans.

Expect to see David Johnson bounce back in 2020. He may fall short of the 1,000 rushing and receiving yards that he has set as a goal for himself, but he is going to be a very solid Fantasy Football option and will help re-write the story of the big trade.
