The Florida State Seminoles take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in Omaha, Nebraska. Our College World Series odds package has our Florida State North Carolina prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Florida State North Carolina.

Florida State and North Carolina are the last two ACC teams left in the College World Series. The SEC is guaranteed at least one team in the CWS Championship Series, with Florida or Kentucky meeting Texas A&M for one of the two spots in the final. The winner of this game will be the ACC’s last hope in Omaha. The winner here will need to beat Tennessee twice to prevent an all-SEC final from taking place.

The Tar Heels and Seminoles both defeated Virginia in Omaha. UNC beat the Cavaliers in its opening game but then ran into the red-hot bats of Tennessee in the winners’ bracket game. FSU took care of Virginia in the losers’ bracket game after UVA fell to the Tar Heels. Both FSU and Carolina have lost to Tennessee, and the winner gets a chance for revenge in what would essentially be a semifinal round.

Because the winner of this game would need to beat Tennessee twice, not just once, to reach the championship round, it is important to get through this game without too much strain on the bullpen. Let’s see if these teams can play a game which puts them in the best possible position to challenge Tennessee and make a deeper run in Nebraska.

Why Florida State Could Cover The Spread

FSU showed a lot in its win over Virginia. The Seminoles suffered the most wrenching loss of this College World Series — no team endured a more painful defeat this week — when they allowed four straight two-out hits in the bottom of the ninth and blew a large, late lead against Tennessee. It takes real toughness to bounce back from that kind of gut punch. The Seminoles did so, and they pulled it off in authoritative fashion with a convincing win over UVA. This team should feel entirely confident that it can handle its ACC competitor from Chapel Hill.

Why North Carolina Could Cover The Spread

The Tar Heels have the elite hitting of Vance Honeycutt, and Florida State does not. UNC might have the best player on the field here, and the Tar Heels’ pitching has been solid this postseason. North Carolina was not at its best against Tennessee, but that might be more of a commentary on how hot Tennessee is right now, not about UNC itself. The Tar Heels can contain FSU’s bats and earn the rematch with Tennessee they are yearning for. Florida State isn’t the only resilient team in this matchup. UNC will have something to say about the outcome.

Final Florida State-North Carolina Prediction & Pick

UNC’s pitching against FSU’s hitting is a great battle which is worth the price of admission. Which team makes more sense from a betting standpoint? The game is rated close to a toss-up, given the money line prices. Our recommendation: Pass on this one.

Final Florida State-North Carolina Prediction & Pick: Florida State -1.5
