The life of an NBA journeyman is often a long and unpredictable road. It is one thing to make it to the NBA, but staying in the league is another challenge of its own.

That is something that former NBA forward Ryan Kelly has found out after deciding to play overseas in Spain, according to international basketball reporter David Pick.

Kelly enjoyed a productive career during his time at Duke University where he was named to the ACC All-Academic team in all four years. He was later drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 48th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

During his time with the Lakers, he also played in the Gatorade League (then known as the Developmental League). After re-signing on a two-year deal with Los Angeles, he was ultimately reassigned and then waived prior to the 2016-17 NBA season.

Ryan Kelly went on to play for a number of teams, including the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics, before he was ultimately waived by the Houston Rockets to avoid paying his $1.5 million guaranteed contract for the 2017-18 NBA season. He averaged 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 163 regular season games.

Kelly has now been tasked with reversing the fortunes of a CB Sevilla team that finished with a 9-23 record last season.
