The French Open semifinal between Marin Cilic and Casper Ruud has been a back-and-forth affair, with Cilic securing the first set, then Ruud storming back to take the next two sets at the time of print. The action has kept fans on the edge of their seats. However, the spectators themselves have also joined in on the action. A female protestor ran onto the court at Roland Garros and literally tied herself to the net in a truly bizarre scene, causing a delay in the Cilic-Ruud match.

The female protestor, who was wearing a shirt that said “We have 1028 days left”, tied herself to the net post during a Ruud service point in the third set of the French Open semifinal. She is believed to have been protesting climate change.

Security quickly emerged onto the Roland Garros court and play was delayed. The net had likely been damaged- and the French Open officials, in a job they likely weren't expecting to do when they woke up this morning, had to literally untie a woman from the net.

While no tennis player wants a delay during a thrilling match, it had to be a nice break for Cilic and Ruud, who could have used the time to make a bathroom or snack run.

The French Open protestor gave sports fans a throwback to the NBA's Play-In tournament in April, when a woman superglued herself to the court in protest of Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor.

Clearly, French Open fans are being treated to an entertaining semifinal.
