New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo recently said that every position on the team was up for grabs. At the time, he wouldn't even fully commit to quarterback Eli Manning. A few hours later, and it now appears the coach is backtracking from his stance a bit.

“He's our quarterback. I have a lot of confidence in Eli,” McAdoo said Monday, according to Bob Glauber of Newsday Sports. “That hasn't changed.”

But wait, there is a caveat to this!

“Eli, he's our quarterback. That doesn't mean at some point we won't throw another guy in to get a look at,” said McAdoo.

To recap this in a more simple form: Ben McAdoo is saying that Eli Manning is the quarterback for the right now, but things can change and he won't be committed to the gunslinger for the remainder of the season just because.

While all of that is incredibly interesting as it is to start, what makes it even more intriguing is the fact that McAdoo should be fearful for his job at this point. He's on the record stating he isn't, but if the Giants at some point do decide to move on from Eli Manning, but without a true replacement around, we can be looking at a full rebuild coming from the National Football League franchise.

That's obviously only conjecture at this point. Best educated guesses have both McAdoo and Manning seeing out the rest of the season, with New York performing some form of evaluation at the end of it.
