There's some shocking news outside of San Francisco, as the San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey will announce his retirement Thursday. The Athletic's Andrew Baggrarly reported.

Buster Posey is one of the greatest of all time to lace them up for the San Francisco Giants and at the catcher position. Posey's a three-time world champion, six-time All-Star, the 2012 National League MVP, four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, he was the Rookie of the Year, and he has a gold glove. He was a career .302 hitter and finished with 158 home runs.

Posey is undoubtedly going to end up in Cooperstown.

Posey was drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Giants. He spent 12 years with the ball club.

He had some incredible moments in a Giants jersey but none were better than his 2012 home run that helped send the Giants to their second World Series in three years.

The Giants had an incredible season, winning 107 games and Posey was a big reason for that. The 34-year-old hit an impressive .304 in his final season. Posey did not play in 2020 due to COVID-19.

San Francisco will have a big hole to fill as they are losing a future Hall of Famer. Buster will announce his retirement on Thursday. He will have his number retired in San Francisco and should make his way into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Buster will enjoy his life as a father of four kids.
