Heading into their first season working together, Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones seem to be fond of one another. The New York Giants will need synergy between them to be a respectable team again.

Daboll, upon being hired to be the Giants' head coach, said that he wants to develop Jones into the best version of himself. Jones told Jordan Raanan of ESPN that Daboll has asked him for his input on New York's offense. Although this is seemingly what any coach and quarterback would do to get on the same page, Jones is appreciative of his new coach's willingness to let him have some control.

“Him asking for my ideas and some of the things that I've liked to run … was cool,” Jones said. “It will be an ongoing process to get a feel for what those things are — what I like, what he likes. And we'll do it.

“It was a good way for me to get to know him and him to get to know me. I certainly appreciated it.”

Jones has had the misfortune of playing under Giants coaches who are clueless with offenses. Pat Shurmur, Joe Judge and Jason Garrett (the play-caller under Judge) did him no favors. Now, he will have the chance to work with more reputable coaches.

Daboll, who developed Josh Allen and the Bills' stellar offense, and new offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who spent years working with Patrick Mahomes, have a great athlete to work with. Jones' weakness stems from his abhorrent decision-making and awareness. Getting him to be a high-level quarterback will be a challenge.
