The New York Giants took a major step toward regaining stability within the organization with the hiring of David Gettleman as the next general manager.

It didn't take Gettleman much time to address the lingering questions concerning the long-term futures of both quarterback Eli Manning and Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

According to Jordan Ranaan of ESPN, the 66-year-old made it quite clear what his plans are for both players first discussing Beckham Jr.'s situation.

“It makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?” Gettleman said when asked whether it would be prudent to re-sign Beckham, who is set to play on his fifth-year option next year. “You know [former Giants general manager] Ernie [Accorsi] told me something a long time ago. Don't quit on talent. Don't quit on talent.”

Beckham Jr. has been nothing short of productive over his first four seasons in the league emerging as one of the elite talents at his position. He has provided a huge source of reliability in the offense despite the difficulties they have endured over the last few years on that side of the ball.

The 25-year-old is set to enter the final year of his rookie deal, and it appears that Gettleman is extremely interested in working out a long-term deal with their star wideout. Meanwhile, he also stated that he believes Manning can still play at a high level while leading the team.

“Listen, Eli has won a lot of games. He's a great competitor. He's very intelligent. He and I are going to talk, and, if what I saw in Philadelphia was not a mirage — and I don't believe it was — then we'll just keep moving.”

Manning still has two still has two more years left on his four-year, $84 million deal with the Giants. The 36-year-old had voiced much uncertainty about his future, but the statements from new general manager give off the vibe that he will remain in the fold at least another year. There should be more clarity on these respective situations once the offseason begins in a few months.
