The 2004 NFL Draft featured a bevy of future franchise quarterbacks. The New York Giants and then-San Diego Chargers both managed to benefit from their swapping of Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.

The Chargers made Manning the No. 1 overall pick before subsequently trading him to the Giants. However, he admitted during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show that he still kept the jersey from draft day.

“I did,” Manning said. “I think my mom had it for a little bit, and I think she tried to, she's like, ‘Well we don't need this,' and tried to give it away to somebody.”

Fortunately, Manning's father was sure to keep it in storage.

“I think my dad wised up and just said, ‘You know, let's just hold on to that for a rainy day, it might be a good story,'” Manning said. “So it's in possession, so just to have that for a rainy day.”

It may be a bit unorthodox for the Manning family to keep the jersey. After all, they were the ones that expressed the lack of interest in playing for the Chargers at the time. It was the reason they ultimately made the trade in the first place. However, becoming the No. 1 overall pick is certainly no small feat. Perhaps the Manning family still wanted to keep the jersey as a memento of this tremendous accomplishment. The only way to tell would be if Rivers still had his jersey from draft day.

Needless to say, the trade ultimately worked out for Manning after going on to win two Super Bowls with the Giants. Although Rivers may still be looking for his, he will still undoubtedly go down as the greatest quarterback in franchise Chargers' history.
