Evan Engram hasn't been a participant in mandatory minicamp and the reason according to coach Pat Shurmur the reason is a hamstring injury.

Engram is entering his third season in the league and said over the weekend that the team is just being extra cautious with him.

“Just the Giants being a little pre-cautious,” Engram said Saturday at the Landon Collins Charity Game, via NJ Advance Media. “Since Day One, anything, they are going to be smart with, especially in the offseason.”

Engram also said that if it was his choice he would be out on the practice field but he respects the team's decision, especially with the injury issues he has dealt with.

Last season Engram dealt with an MCL injury and a hamstring injury and although this hamstring injury is different than the one he dealt with last year, the team is still going to be extra cautious.

“I’m good. I’m just being smart.”I don’t really need anything crazy right now. I’m still just trying to be healthy for the summer and be ready for (training) camp.”

Even with the injuries last season Engram caught 45 passes for 577 yards and three touchdowns. The expectation is that Engram is going to be a huge key for the Giants offense, especially with Odell Beckham Jr. off of the team.

The expectation is that Engram is going to be good to go once the team comes back together in July for training camp and as long as he stays healthy, expect a lot of Engram catches this upcoming season.
