New York Giants tight end Evan Engram was reportedly dealing with a foot injury following the Week 9 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. It appears to be much more serious than the Giants may have initially led on.

According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Engram was among the notable absences from practice:

Head coach Pat Shurmur has since revealed that Engram suffered a mild foot sprain, via NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

The prospect of Engram having to miss significant time undoubtedly deals a severe blow to the Giants' offense. Despite experiencing some down weeks recently, he has established himself as one of the most promising, young tight ends in the NFL while serving as a safety net for quarterback Daniel Jones in the passing game. The 25-year-old has hauled in 44 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns thus far in the 2019 NFL season.

With Engram now in a boot, it is safe to assume that his status for the next few weeks may very well be in jeopardy. If the Giants find any underlying issues, he could potentially be slated to miss some time in order to prevent further aggravating the injury. This would undoubtedly leave a notable void in the receiving corps with Jones still trying to find his footing under center.
