New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll sees it is currently “unfair” to draw comparisons between Daniel Jones and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

During his four-season run as offensive coordinator for the Bills, Daboll helped to revitalize the team’s offense, which included orchestrating a keen scheme that simply got the best out of Allen's skill set as a versatile passer. The behind-the-scenes work sure paid off, as Allen has emerged as one of the more prolific passers in the NFL today.

Now with the Giants, there has already been much expectation that Daboll will be able to mirror his success with Allen to now with Jones. In the big picture, Daboll sees that there is a long way to go before this could come to fruition, which he explained further during a recent appearance on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” program.

“I think it’s unfair right now,” Daboll said. “Josh and I were together for four years. It took a village to help Josh — credit first goes to Josh Allen and his abilities and his desires and his competitiveness.

“I look forward to working with him [Daniel Jones]. We got a long way to go.”

Jones’ third campaign with the Giants was marred by injury, as he wound up missing the team’s final six games of the regular season due to a neck injury. Giants co-owner John Mara did recently confirm that Jones’ neck injury will be a “non-factor” for the 2022 campaign.

There is already a firm commitment that Jones will indeed be the Giants’ starting quarterback for the 2022 season, as Mara did also mention that he would be surprised if this were not to be the case later this year. Daboll further added during his introductory press conference with the Giants that he is aiming to help the third-year passer “get better” and is seeking to “implement a system that suits him.”

Overall, Jones has recorded 45 passing touchdowns coupled with an 84.3 passer rating posted through 38 career games with the Giants.
