The 2019 campaign has been a miserable one for the New York Giants, so it's understandable that their players might be a bit frustrated with just three weeks to play.

However, that doesn't excuse players from negatively engaging in fans, especially at practice.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins did not participate in practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, but he was still present and decided to pass his time by insulting a fan on social media.

While Jenkins was on Twitter rattling off his own stats to show how effective he has been, a fan asked why Jenkins' production was not contributing to any wins, to which Jenkins replied, “I can only do my job..retard,” per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.

Jenkins later apologized for the tweet.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was not happy about Jenkins' social media activity:

“I was just made aware of it as I was going through the injury report, and he shouldn't be tweeting during practice,” Shurmur said.

Through 13 games this season, Jenkins has logged 54 tackles, four interceptions and 14 passes defended, but while his numbers may look gaudy, it's clear that he is not the elite cover corner he once was when he first arrived in New York in 2016.

Jenkins, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida and North Alabama, was originally selected by the St. Louis Rams in the second round (39th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Janoris Jenkins spent the first four years of his career with the Rams before signing a lucrative deal with the Giants in March 2016. He went on to make his first Pro Bowl during his first season in the Big Apple, but since then, Jenkins has declined.
