It's been an intriguing offseason for the New York Giants so far as the franchise hopes to get back on track. With Brian Daboll leading the way, the organization is hopeful they can become playoff contenders once again. However, the team made an interesting decision regarding Adoree' Jackson that doesn't look so great on paper.

According to Field Yates, the Giants have restructured Adoree Jackson's contract, converting $8.965 million into a signing bonus. This move has generated $5.98 million in cap space for New York. Now, the franchise is under the cap space for now, but Jackson's deal is still terrible.

Adoree' Jackson received a contract not many teams would give him. He played poorly for the Tennessee Titans and struggled to bounce back from an injury he suffered in 2019, as he was hardly a factor throughout the 2020 season. The Giants overpaid the cornerback and they're not doing themselves that great of a favor by restructuring Jackson's deal, per Pat Leonard.

We'll see how this plays out for the Giants. This move helps the franchise this season on cap space, but it could cause problems in 2023. Even so, there's a chance Adoree' Jackson isn't even on the roster next season, but it depends on how he performs. He hasn't played well the last three years and has struggled with injuries throughout that span.

The Giants would be wise to search for Jackson's replacement sooner, rather than later. Even so, cornerback isn't a top priority for this team right now and they can make do with what they have. All eyes will be on Adoree' Jackson as he'll have another chance to prove he deserves a stop in the NFL.
