The New York Giants aren't off to a great start this season, and their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn't quite ready to blame Eli Manning. Beckham signed a five-year $95 million deal with the Giants this offseason, which was a record amount for a wide receiver. He will get $56 million in guaranteed money, so the Giants expect him to put up some big numbers. However, the giants are 1-4, and Beckham has scored one touchdown this year. He's been vocal about his desire for the Giants to take more shots down the field. He thinks Manning can still play, but he wants to be targeted like an elite weapon should be.

“Like I said, I feel like he's not going to get out the pocket,” Beckham told ESPN. “He's not — we know Eli's not running it. But is it a matter of time issue? Can he still throw it, yeah, but it's been pretty safe and it's been, you know … cool catching shallow [routes] and trying to take it to the house. But I'm, you know, I want to go over the top of somebody.”

Odell Beckham Jr. has another young star in Saquon Barkley on his team this year. However, the Giants have been criticized for not getting Barkley enough touches as well. Eli Manning may have won two Super Bowls, but that won't give him unlimited job security. Giants fans want to win now, and that doesn't look like it'll be an option this year.

“I haven't been in this situation. I haven't been in the place where I felt like I could really go out and do everything that I'm capable of doing,” Beckham said. “I don't get 20 targets like some other receivers, you know.”

Taking shots down the field is what will make Beckham happy. He's one of the league's most explosive players in the open field. We'll have to wait and see if the Giants change their offensive strategy to please their superstar.
