The New York Giants are hoping to bounce back with a vengeance in 2018 after a disappointing and unexpected three-win season last year. Although there's a long way to go, the team has gotten off to an excellent start to the year with a seemingly repaired relationship with Odell Beckham Jr., a new head coach in Pat Shurmur, and the addition of rookie running back Saquon Barkley.

During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants owned the second overall pick and were thought to be seriously considering bringing in Eli Manning's eventual successor due to the quarterback talent in the draft. Instead, the team decided to take Barkley, and it appears that was a popular choice as he already has the NFL's best-selling jersey, according to DICK's Sporting Goods.

Obviously, this is a good sign for the Giants in terms of marketing and star potential for their young running back. Beckham is already one of the biggest stars in the league and adding Barkley into the mix will likely make the team must-see TV in 2018.

The real question is whether Barkley was worth the gamble in terms of production on the football field. There's no doubting his talent as he was incredible during his time with Penn State and few would argue he's not the best back in this draft class, but he'll have a lot to prove on the NFL level, especially in a city like New York, with Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys setting the bar for backs taken within the first five picks of the draft.
