The New York Giants are hoping to get back into the win column on the road against the Detroit Lions in Week 8. Unfortunately, it seems they will be without wide receiver Sterling Shepard once again.

Shepard has been sidelined for the last two games while recovering from a concussion. He is now set to miss his third straight after being ruled out against Detroit, via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.

WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) remained limited. He will not be playing Sunday in Detroit.

There had been plenty of optimism regarding Shepard's potential return in Week 8. However, it appears he may be experiencing some lingering effects after suffering his second concussion of the 2019 NFL season. The first one had already caused him to miss New York's Week 2 loss to Buffalo.

As a result, it appears the Giants may be taking a cautious approach with his recovery given he suffered the same injury in such a short span. Regardless, his absence undoubtedly leaves a notable void in the receiving corps for quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jones has had the luxury of having all of his weapons available for just one game this season. It is safe to say that he will now have to rely heavily on wide receiver Golden Tate and tight end Evan Engram in the passing game against the Lions. Meanwhile, the return of running back Saquon Barkley should also provide another stabilizing factor in the backfield.

The Giants have gone 0-3 without Shepard this season so it is safe to say that his absence is heavily felt by the offense.
