New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard will not be cleared to play in his team's game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.

Shepard is still recovering from a concussion he suffered during the Giants' Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He did not play in the club's Week 6 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots.

Complicating the matter is that Shepard also sustained a concussion earlier in the season, so the wide out was hit with a pair of concussions during a very short period of time.

Shepard also suffered one concussion at the University of Oklahoma and is believed to have dealt with a couple of them in high school, as well.

The fact that the 26-year-old remains out does not come as much of a surprise, as the initial prognosis was that Shepard would be sidelined for an extended period of time.

In four games this season, Shepard has logged 25 catches for 267 yards and a touchdown.

The Oklahoma City native was originally selected by New York in the second round (40th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He went on to play in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, catching 65 passes for 683 yards and eight scores. He was then limited to just 11 contests due to injuries in 2017, finishing with 59 catches for 731 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Last year, Shepard participated in every game, hauling in 66 receptions for 872 yards and four scores.

The Giants signed Shepard to a four-year contract extension during the offseason.
