The New York Giants are in need of a quarterback to succeed the aging Eli Manning, and with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft next month, most feel that the Giants will, in fact, take a signal-caller.

Ohio State University quarterback and New Jersey native Dwayne Haskins seems to be at the top of the list.

There had already been talk that New York was leaning toward taking Haskins before the Scouting Combine last week, and Jordan Raanan of ESPN NFL Nation reports that the Giants came away very impressed after meeting with the 21-year-old last Friday.

Raanan adds that the fact that the sitdown went well is probably even more important than what Haskins did on the field this past weekend.

In a draft class that also includes Oklahoma's Kyler Murray and Duke's Daniel Allen, Haskins is considered by many to be the most NFL-ready quarterback of the group.

This past season, he threw for 4,831 yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 70 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 174.1.

Haskins, who grew up a Giants fan, also appears to want Big Blue, which makes this a rather natural match.

New York won just five games in 2018 and has made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.

With Manning now 37 years old and in obvious decline, the Giants are in desperate need of a signal-caller to take his place going forward, and it appears that Haskins may very well end up being that guy.
