We are closing in on the beginning of the new league year in the NFL with teams looking to move guys before free agency kicks off. The New York Giants are trying to find suitors for Olivier Vernon currently.

Kimberly Jones of NFL Network is reporting that the Giants are shopping Vernon but feel like his contract isn't tradable. This a tough blow for fans, especially after seeing the team let Landon Collins walk with no deal.

The offseason has already been a tough one for Giants fans. First, the rumors surrounding an Odell Beckham trade. Then, New York doesn't offer Collins anything, making him a free agent.

New York shopping around Vernon doesn't come as a surprise at all. Vernon had another down season in 2018 with the Giants.

In 11 starts, Vernon had seven sacks and a forced fumble. That sort of production isn't worth what the G-Men are currently paying the former Miami Dolphin.

In 2019, Vernon is third on the team with a cap hit of $19.5 million. That's a tough pill to swallow, especially when you consider the fact that the team let go of Jason Pierre-Paul who had 12.5 sacks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018.

The Giants are yearning for an elite pass rusher off the edge like they once had with Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck. The Giants may be stuck with Vernon though due to no teams wanting to risk paying his hefty price tag.

The Giants' tumultuous offseason continues as they will likely be unable to move Vernon due to his contract. New York fans better hope their front office figures things out soon before it's too late.
