New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence over the last two weeks. However, it appears that has not ruled out the notion of quarterback Kyle Lauletta playing in the 2018 NFL season.

Lauletta has spent the year serving as Manning's backup. According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the Giants are reportedly hoping to get him on the field at some point this season:

Eli Manning's recent run of success hasn't changed the Giants' plan to get a glimpse of their future. They still intend to play rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta at some point this season, according to a source.

The rumor is not too far-fetched considering how poorly Manning played for a majority of the year. New York invested a fourth-round pick in Lauletta in the 2018 NFL Draft. Reports indicate that they would like to determine his potential as a starter going into the offseason.

Early on, it appeared as though the Giants' front office would get that chance given how poorly the team performed. However, Manning's play over the last couple of weeks has stalled their plans to get some fresh meat under center. It seems the only thing they value more than getting some film on one of their young quarterbacks is competing for the playoffs.

Fortunately, they are in a position to do so given the abysmal state of the NFC East. The Giants somehow find themselves in a position to compete for the division title even at 3-7. As a result, it appears Manning will be the starter as long as New York still has a chance.
