The New York Giants are facing a rather harsh reality when it comes to Saquon Barkley. Apparently, his trade value is not as high as they expect.

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, the “consensus trade value” for Barkley is a “fourth round pick,” which makes him skeptical that New York will pull the trigger on any trade for the young running back.

Of course that is far from what general manager Joe Schoen expect to get from a Saquon Barkley trade. As reported earlier, the Giants could be looking for a first-round pick to part ways with the 25-year-old.

That is certainly a significant asking price for a player who has largely struggled ever since his rookie year. Barkley got off to a phenomenal start to his NFL career, showing his elite rushing and catching ability en route to becoming the 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Barkley recorded 1307 rushing yards for 11 touchdowns, as well as 721 receiving yards for four touchdowns.

Unfortunately, he was not able to replicate the same success in the next three seasons, which put his future with the Giants in doubt.

A lot of teams have been linked to a Barkley trade, but at the end of the day, it all depends on what the Giants ask in return for him. If the team insists on getting a first rounder, then it doesn't look like Barkley will be packing his bags any time soon.
