Vegas Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner said some strong words directed towards the NHL Players' Association for its silence over the Jack Eichel situation with the Buffalo Sabres.

Where is the @nhlpa and all nhl players in all this attacks on our freedom of choice? Jack situation is crazy to me.. also people getting attacked by journalist that hides behind freedom of speech to trash peoples freedom of choice. When does the hypocrisy end? #lifeaftercareer

The Eichel saga has yet to be resolved, as the Sabres center continues to hold his ground with regards to his stance on how his neck injury should be dealt with. Eichel wants a procedure that the Sabres’ management is not in favor of, which is a disk replacement surgery. The Sabres are also refusing to trade Eichel even though he has seemingly made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the team. They even stripped Eichel of his captaincy after a failed training camp physical, and that must have added to the outrage the Golden Knights' goaltender is feeling towards the Sabres, as well.

The Golden Knights goalie understandably could relate to what Eichel is going through. He still has resentments towards the Sabres for what he feels was a failure on the team’s part in handling a lower-body injury before. Lehner and Eochel used to be teammates when the netminder was still with the Sabres from 2016 to 2018.

Lehner is currently playing for the Golden Knights on a five-year deal worth $25 million that he signed back in October 2020. He takes over the starting gig in front of the Golden Knights' net following the departure of Marc-Andre Fleury.
