The Vegas Golden Knights have not missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs so far in their young existence as an NHL franchise. But they might just be on the verge of experiencing an early vacation for the first time since they arrived in the league as an expansion team in the 2017-18 season. After losing to the New Jersey Devils Monday night at home, 3-2, the Golden Knights are now four points back of the last wild-card spot in the Western Conference with just five games left to play.

For Golden Knights head coach Pete DeBoer, there's no more room for error for Vegas.

Via Jesse Granger of The Athletic:

“I think we have to win them all,” coach Pete DeBoer said of the remaining five regular-season games after the disappointing loss. “It’s pretty simple.”

Vegas can also make the playoffs by getting inside the top three in the Pacific Division, which is an easier route for them as they are only behind the Los Angeles Kings by three points. While the Golden Knights can still make it if the Kings lose enough games as well as the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators, DeBoer is not one to let their fate be in full control of others.

Up next for the Golden Knights are back-to-back home games against the Washington Capitals and the San Jose Sharks before finishing their regular season with three consecutive outings away from Sin City.
