Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies are currently sitting in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.

If the playoffs started today, the Grizzlies would take on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. Although the Lakers would be the heavy favorites to win that series, basketball fans as a whole would enjoy watching Grizzlies youngsters Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. go head-to-head against the Lakers.

Brooks believes teams wouldn't want to face the Grizzlies in the first round of the postseason. He expanded on that statement during an interview with Bryan Kalbrosky of Hoops Hype:

“It would mean so much. I feel like teams don’t want to see us,” Brooks said. “We’re like that wildcard team. We feel like we’re underdogs this year. We’re playing free and we’re playing fast. We’re playing defense and we want to learn this stuff organically. We’ve got guys that work the same way as me. Our young guys work the same way. They want to feed off that. It’s a tribute to coming out every single day in practice and shooting and treatment and weights. We do it one hundred percent, which we always talk about.”

The Grizzlies are 32-32 on the season. They're coming off a blowout win over the Atlanta Hawks on the road. Memphis is back in action on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic.

Brooks has appeared in 64 games for the Grizzlies this season. He's averaging 15.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 40.2 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies signed Brooks to a $35 million extension earlier this season. Memphis drafted Brooks with the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played his college ball at Oregon.
