In the 2017 NBA Playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies battled the San Antonio Spurs in a classic defensive series. Many thought that the Grizzlies would get humiliated by a much superior Spurs team, but the Grizzlies ended up taking two games in a hard-fought series. So far this season, the Grizzlies are 16-29, ranked 13th in the Western Conference. It appears that making the postseason is unlikely for the Grizzlies, and Mike Conley is now starting to believe that this season is a ‘nightmare', according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

Whatever happens the rest of the year happens, and in the summertime we’ll deal with that. It’s just been a nightmare season to say the least from that standpoint.”

Mike Conley has missed months with an Achilles tendon injury. The injury has clearly set the Grizzlies back without their starting point guard. Conley has battled with his decision to play through the pain or wait it out. He knows his team is struggling, but he doesn't want to risk his health by coming back prematurely. With that in mind, Conley has refused to embrace this losing season, even if the Grizzlies may get a good draft pick this year.

No, man. ‘Cause that’s not, that wasn’t our goal coming in. Whatever happens the rest of the year happens, and in the summertime we’ll deal with that. It’s just been a nightmare season to say the least from that standpoint. My cousin told me the other day, maybe it’s a blessing. You miss a good chunk of the season, and maybe it’s saving you for something else. Take some mileage off of you.

There has been no timetable for Conley's return, but hopefully he can return to the Grizzlies somewhere down the road.

In 12 games played this season, Conley has garnered averages of 17.1 points and 4.1 assists.
