The Memphis Grizzlies continue to endure what has been perhaps their roughest stretch in years. Although many were hoping that their injury woes would subside at some point in December, they have been plagued by the absence of star point guard Mike Conley.

It goes without saying that Memphis has been nothing short of abysmal without Conley at the helm. To make matters worse, his timetable for a return still remains unclear after an injury update on the Grizzlies' team website:

Conley continues to participate in therapy and treatment to alleviate soreness in his left heel, as he progresses towards returning to on-court activities. A further update will be provided in approximately two weeks.

Even prior to the injury, the Grizzlies had their fair share of trouble getting into the win column, which ultimately culminated with the firing of head coach David Fizdale. Aside from the drama that had ensued, the Achilles injury to Conley was the cherry on top to their tumultuous early season.

At this point, it is safe to assume that the Grizzlies playoff hopes may have slipped away the moment Conley went down. That said, it will be interesting to see whether or not Memphis is willing to risk playing him in a lost season.
