The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a multi-year contract with big man Deyonta Davis, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

Davis originally signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks back on March 19 and then signed a second 10-day deal with the club on March 29. Atlanta apparently liked him enough to give him a deal that extends beyond just a week-and-a-half.

In eight games for the Hawks this season, Davis is averaging 4.3 points and 4.4 rebounds over 14.4 minutes per game while shooting 68.2 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the free-throw line.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Michigan State University, was originally selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round (31st pick overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft but was immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

He ended up playing in 36 games with the Grizzlies during his rookie campaign, registering 1.6 points and 1.7 boards across 6.6 minutes a night while making 51.1 percent of his field-goal attempts and 55.6 percent of his foul shots.

Davis then appeared in 62 contests the following season, making six starts. During that time, he posted 5.8 points and four rebounds through 15.2 minutes per game while connecting on 60.8 percent of his shots and 66.7 percent of his free throws.

The Hawks currently own a record of 29-52 and will miss the playoffs for the second straight year, which comes on the heels of a run of 10 straight postseason appearances by Atlanta, which was the longest streak in the Eastern Conference at the time.

However, the young Hawks have looked much better in the second half of this season and will conclude their 2018-19 campaign when they play host to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
