Life as an NBA rookie can be really tough, especially when you're tasked with being a franchise point guard like Trae Young is with the Atlanta Hawks. Luckily for Young, he has people in his corner who are helping him out, and one of those people is none other than Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant.

On the latest episode of “Rookie On The Rise” from Young Hollywood, Trae Young says Kevin Durant has been texting him throughout the season and giving him some advice on how to survive in the NBA (h/t For The Win).

“I’ve gotten a lot of feedback since I’ve gotten drafted. Really throughout the Summer League, throughout the summer process and throughout these summer games, I’ve gotten a lot of texts from a lot of vets and a lot of guys I look up to. One of the main people I’ve been talking to is Kevin Durant. He reached out to me after our games in Utah, just trying to be encouraging and giving me a lot of advice about different things – on how to handle the media, and just everything that goes into basketball.”

The Hawks aren't going to win a lot of games this season, which mentally can be tough on a guy like Trae Young, who has won ever since his AAU days. It's nice of Kevin Durant to help out the kid since he knows what it's like to be a top rookie and the expectations that come with it.

In 22 games this season, Trae Young is averaging 15.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.6 assists while shooting 38.3 percent from the field, 25.4 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks are 5-17 on year.
