Trae Young had the game of his life on Monday night, dropping a career-high 56 points. Yet, it wasn't enough as the Atlanta Hawks still lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 136-131.

Following the contest, Trae reacted to his historic performance. Needless to say, it didn't mean much since his team failed to secure a victory.

Via Chris Kirschner:

Young simply couldn't be stopped by a poor Blazers defense, but the Hawks star didn't receive much help. Only two other players finished in double-digits, with the majority of the rotation struggling to produce.

The shifty guard made history as well, matching Tiny Archibald from 1973:

14 assists is undoubtedly impressive and Trae continues to prove that he is one of the most versatile offensive weapons in the league. But, the Hawks have dealt with a ton of COVID-19 problems this season and sit at 16-20 on the season, despite his brilliance. Young was absolutely lights out from a shooting standpoint, going 7 for 12 from long range and a perfect 15 for 15 from the free-throw line.

Although Young made it clear he doesn't care about the record, you'd have to believe the former Oklahoma standout is pleased to know that no one in the NBA has erupted for 56 points this season. Let's just hope it can result in a win next time.
