Trae Young is the new face of the Atlanta Hawks' franchise after being drafted with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was acquired by the Hawks in the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Dallas Mavericks. It was a move that the Hawks feel will give them a Stephen Curry-like presence in their backcourt.

It's no surprise, then, that new Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce is going with Young at point guard to start the preseason, according to Kevin Chouinard of the team's official website.

Atlanta is heading into what will be a tough rebuilding stage. They have moved on from Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague, and now Dennis Schroder over the past few years. Young is the future cornerstone of the franchise who should provide plenty of excitement for the fan base.

Last season with the Oklahoma Sooners, Young was one of the most entertaining players in the nation. He put up a whopping 27.4 points per game, while also chipping in 8.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per contest. Young shot 42.2 percent from the field overall and connected on 36.0 percent of his 3-point attempts.

There have been quite a few knocks on Young since coming into the NBA. The main concern is his size at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. If he can gain a bit of muscle, Young could become one of the most lethal scorers in the league.

It will be fun to watch Young develop throughout the course of his rookie season. He has loads of superstar potential, and it will all start Monday night at home against the New Orleans Pelicans.
