The Atlanta Hawks and John Collins have been growing apart for years now. With the 2022 NBA Draft on the horizon, trade is as close as it ever has been.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Hawks are looking to make a Collins trade before tomorrow night's draft.

After years of being on and off and back on the trade block and publicly sharing his displeasure with the team, it was reported that Collins' time in Atlanta is truly running out. The Hawks are looking to make sure they find a trade for him so that they can make the most of the draft this year.

The Hawks have the 16th pick in the NBA draft to include in a Collins trade. They could start with those two pieces and try to trade up into the top 10. Several teams with picks in the middle of lottery positioning are willing to move on from their selections for a win-now player.

Collins is certainly a win-now piece. His ability to score and utilize space as a screener in pick-and-rolls. The 24-year-old averaged 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from deep last season. As someone who can finish lobs and dunks with authority and shoot from deep, he would be a strong complement to any stellar ball-handler.

The Hawks, meanwhile, should look to get more reliable shot-creators around Young with the assets they get in return for Collins. They should look to fill Collins' spot in the rotation with a defensive-minded forward.
