Basketball Hall of Famer and Miami Heat team vice president Alonzo Mourning has very high hopes for Heat big man Bam Adebayo. According to Mourning, Adebayo has the potential to become his team's top player in the coming years.

Speaking on the 790 AM The Ticket radio program, Mourning had nothing but great things to say about his prized youngster.

“I know he is going to be the best player in our organization,” said Mourning via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “Obviously a phenomenal talent. He came in the league at 19 years old. Sky is the limit for his potential of being the best player on this team one day, which I feel he will be really simply because of his work ethic.”

That is some praise coming from one of the best big men to ever play the sport. As Mourning explained, Adebayo possesses the tools to become the Heat's cornerstone superstar someday.

“I judge a person by their work ethic. He already has the skill but his work ethic is off the charts. I know he is going to be the best player in our organization. He will lead our franchise one day to the promised land. I don’t want to put any pressure on him and all but I know based on how hard he works, how hard he works and his God given ability, we are going to raise his jersey in the rafters one day and he will lead our franchise.”

Mourning did say that he did not want to put pressure on the 21-year-old, but he has obviously set the bar so high here. Nonetheless, if what he is saying is true, then Adebayo should have no problem living up to the sky high expectations.

Obviously, the Heat aren't rooting for Mourning to be wrong.
